Who We Are

Skim Co is a Victoria-based studio specializing in hand-applied microcement surfaces, integrated built-ins, and mineral wall finishes. Our work focuses on creating calm, continuous interior surfaces that are designed, detailed, and built as part of the architecture.

We approach surfaces as systems, not coatings. Every project begins with understanding how form, structure, and finish work together — and resolving those relationships before anything is applied on site.

Our process is design-led and material-driven. Projects are digitally modeled to resolve proportion, edge conditions, and transitions early, allowing substrates to be engineered with precision and intent. Where appropriate, CNC fabrication is used to ensure accuracy and consistency before hand application begins.

This approach allows surfaces to wrap seamlessly across planes — from walls and wet rooms to countertops and built-ins — without relying on joints, trims, or decorative transitions.

Microcement and mineral finishes demand more than visual restraint. Substrate stability, waterproofing, and sealing are treated as integral parts of every installation, particularly in kitchens, bathrooms, and high-use areas.
